Helping Kids Whose Hurts Are Deep

Marv Penner | Being a teenager has always been tough. The more deeply we get to know our students, the more we often realize how complex those stories are. But a good youth worker is a trusted youth worker who will hear these stories from kids who need someone to listen. The problem is that most of us don’t feel trained or equipped to respond wisely when students choose to share their darkest secrets with us. This seminar will teach you the skills you need to get to the bottom of these stories, as well as determine what the best next steps are. We will look at legal obligations, what to do when you just don’t know what to do, and when and how to get the help they need to find hope and healing in the midst of pain and brokenness.
